Andy is currently living in foster in Spain with our wonderful Rosy, after his mum was found abandoned locally in the area which is a common occurrence. Andy’s mum was already very heavily pregnant and gave birth to her litter of 10 puppies less than a week after arriving with Rosy.
At the moment, the puppies are very young so it’ll take some more time before their personalities start to show. Their mum is a very sweet girl who has done a wonderful job of raising this large litter.
It is very difficult to give sizes for puppies as we do not know the father of the litter. The mum Astrid is on the larger size of medium approx 60cm so we are tentatively guessing the pups will make a medium size however they could be smaller or larger. They are being raised in Rosy’s home with a large number of other dogs of all different breeds, ages, and sizes. There are cats they will be growing up with and visitors of all ages too. Podenco puppies are very cute, but they need consistent training, patience and understanding especially through the adolescent phase where we find a lot of people tend to struggle. If you apply to adopt a podenco puppy, please ensure you have properly thought through the challenges you might face whilst they mature into a wonderful adult where you can then reap the rewards of your hard work. It is a wonderful experience to bring up a pod puppy, but it is not for the faint hearted!
Andy will be vaccinated and tested for all Mediterranean diseases. He is be passported and is available for adoption, he will be ready to travel in May. He will need to be neutered at the appropriate age.
