The wonderful people that allow us to keep rescuing podencos.
We are humbled every day by the dedication and support we receive from the amazing people we work with who go above and beyond to help the dogs that are in need. Whether that is rescuing podencos off the street or out of the perreras, our wonderful network in Spain care for them in their kennels and in their homes, and do whatever it takes to get them ready for adoption.
And of course, our Hope for Podencos Champion - Life Like Charlie, who is a fantastic advocate and ambassador for the breed having adopted twice from us. Charlie promotes Hope For Podencos and donates generously, whilst also supporting a number of other charities who are all fighting for the same cause. We are incredibly grateful for Charlie, whose generosity has helped shape our future.
HFP Champion - Life Like Charlie
We have known Charlie for many years now, since he adopted his first Podenco Nala from us in 2019. Charlie has worked hard and built an incredible bond with Nala through dedicated training, patience and love that has seen her blossom. We weren’t surprised when Charlie and Nala became an internet sensation in early 2024, with Nala’s ‘mouth snappies’ entertaining millions on social media.
Not long after their rise to fame, Charlie felt like it was the right time to welcome a second podenco into his home, which led us to matching him with Monkey. We could not have done this without the hard work of Galgos del Sol who rescued and rehabilitated Monkey. She has settled in brilliantly and you can watch all of Charlie, Nala and Monkey’s adventures on @lifelikecharlie on both Tik Tok and Instagram.
With Charlie’s new found fame and platform, he helps us daily in every way he can. The thing we love the most about Charlie is his celebration and support of the breed which aligns so much with our ethos. Charlie is the first and only HFP Champion and we cannot thank him enough for his generous donations, shares and love of all things Podencos.
Viajando con Mimi.
For the past few years, we are so lucky to have been able to work with Oscar and Rafa at Viajando con Mimi, who transport all of our podencos to their new homes. The love and kindness they give the pods when in their care allows us to know they are safe on their travels.
But Oscar and Rafa do not stop at transport and also help us rescue and rehabilitate podencos who are in need. Oscar and his network (Mamen and Claudia we mean you!) and Rafa with his own charity - Mastines en la Calle.

Manoli, Mamen and Rafa rescue dogs from perreras, hunters and the streets and bring them into their association for rehabilitation and rehoming. Whilst they specialise in Spanish Mastin’s, they’ll never turn a dog in need away. We have been working with Rafa as part of our transport for many years so it is a privilege to grow our network and be trusted to re-home podencos in their care.
The association works closely with the FENPCA a newly formed not for profit organisation who are campaigning for the cruelty towards the hunting dogs of Spain to end.
Together we are stronger.
Our network is growing again which is really exciting and means we can help even more podencos find their happy ever after. Thank you to every association, individual and small business that works with us so that we can continue to grow, fight for change and show the world how incredible these dogs are!
